NEXT GEN
(Postcards from Parallel landscapes)
Next Gen is a conceptual and photographic project that envisions Generation Z around the age of sixty, projected into a not-so-distant future shaped by the environmental and social upheavals depicted in Parallel Landscapes. This series focuses exclusively on female subjects, who embody the challenges, transformations, and forms of resilience of a world in flux.
Within the context of Parallel Landscapes—a project that merges traditional photography with the expressive potential of artificial intelligence— Next Gen emerges as a narrative and visual extension: no longer only altered landscapes shaped by rising seas and climate shifts, but now human portraits immersed in this redefined world. These images explore how Generation Z, raised in the digital era, might live and recognize themselves in old age, in a world sculpted by technology, generative aesthetics, and fluid memory.
Photography in Next Gen retains its documentary nature, yet also becomes a tool of imagination and transformation. The women portrayed exist in a liminal space between reality and fiction, between physical presence and digital identity, between personal experience and collective narratives shaped by AI.
The project reflects the tensions and potential of this evolving dialogue between human and machine, memory and innovation, past and future. Here, the portrait is no longer a fixed trace of time, but an evolving narrative, a visual fragment open to multiple interpretations and experiences. Next Gen challenges the static nature of traditional photography, embracing an aesthetic that welcomes uncertainty, mutation, and adaptation.
In this scenario, tourism itself is reimagined—not as passive visitation or consumption, but as an immersive journey through emotional and digital landscapes, reconstructed memories, and possible futures. The protagonists of Next Gen become guides and witnesses of this journey—emblematic figures of a generation that has learned to navigate crises and renewals, weaving their personal stories into the broader fabric of a changing world.
Together, Next Gen and Parallel Landscapes form a bridge between two artistic approaches that dialogue and complement one another: photography as a stable foundation rooted in the real, and generative art as a dynamic, innovative force capable of rewriting the present and anticipating the future.
