BiancoNeroVerticale (Vertical Black and White)

I am intrigued by black and white photography; it reminds me of the postcards my father sent my mother when they were sweethearts. My black and white is “stark” light and shadow suspended in a surreal atmosphere, as if of expectation.

Taking my intentions to extremes, rather than the subject, it is how the light arrives that is important. A light that is above all an “inner” one, a subconscious and nebulous memory, yet “essential” in the images I compose.

And vertical photography fascinates me because it gives depth to the landscape, reinventing it and offering perspectives that clash with the usual eye movement, more used to being drawn horizontally.

Mi intriga il bianco e nero, è nel ricordo di certe cartoline che mio padre spediva a mia madre quando erano fidanzati. Il bianco e nero che cerco sono luci e ombre “definitive”, sospese in atmosfere surreali, come di attesa.

Volendo estremizzare l'intento, più importante del soggetto è piuttosto come ci arriva la luce. Una luce prima di tutto "interiore", ricordo inconscio e indefinito, ma "necessaria" nelle immagini che compongo.

E mi intriga lo sguardo verticale perché dà profondità al paesaggio, lo reinventa restituendomi prospettive inedite allo sguardo ordinario, più abituato a scorrere orizzontalmente.
